WE WANT TO SHAPE AND TRAIN, IN THE CONTEXT OF THE LOCAL CHURCH, PEOPLE WHO INTEGRATE TRUTH AND EXPERIENCE IN SUCH A WAY THAT IN THEIR CHARACTER, SPIRITUAL DISCIPLINES AND SERVICE, THEY REFLECT MORE AND MORE JESUS-CHRIST. SHAPED AND TRAINED IN A TEAM CONTEXT, WHERE EACH AND EVERY ONE IS ACCOUNTABLE TO THE OTHERS, THEY WILL BE ABLE TO PURSUE THEIR PILGRIMAGE IN THE FULLNESS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT AND FOR THE GLORY OF GOD. Our Mission Considering that the health of the Church depends in great part upon the health of its leaders, L'INSTITUT BIBLIQUE V.I.E. exists for the formation of leaders. The institute trains servants of God to increasingly reflect Jesus-Christ. L'INSTITUT BIBLIQUE V.I.E. invites disciples already affirmed in the faith and who demonstrate leadership potential, to be trained so as to contribute even more to the maturing and multiplying of the evangelical churches in Quebec. I. OUR APPROACH TO TRAINING PILGRIMAGE INTEGRATION CONSTANT AND HOLISTIC EVALUATION OF THE LEARNER ADULT APPROACH TO EDUCATION (ANDRAGOGY) II. OUR POWER FOR TRAINING FULLNESS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT III. OUR EVALUATION OF THE TRAINING PROCESS RIGOROUS AND INTENTIONAL SELF-EVALUATION PILGRIMAGE Considering that the training of a servant-leader is a lifelong endeavor and that spiritual growth is a path consisting of various stages and reference points, L'INSTITUT BIBLIQUE V.I.E. chooses the image of a pilgrimage, from an evangelical perspective, to inspire its training philosophy. INTEGRATIONConsidering that growth in all things (Ephesians 4.15) does not occur unless truth is in contact with experience, neither when experience remains isolated from truth, but rather it is in the meeting of truth and experience that a holistic, fruitful and coherent life in Christ emerges; and Considering that the teaching content cannot be separated from its life context, L'INSTITUT BIBLIQUE V.I.E. promotes training which revolves around the integration of truth and experience in the life of the Christian. Integration is central to all the activities of L'INSTITUT BIBLIQUE V.I.E.. CONSTANT AND HOLISTIC EVALUATION OF THE LEARNERConsidering that personal integration of truth and experience needs a framework where the person is accompanied and accountable to others, L'INSTITUT BIBLIQUE V.I.E. will provide the framework for the student's constant evaluation with regards to character formation, spiritual disciplines and Christian service while at the same time developing in him/her a spirit that, in view of his/her own growth, values and seeks feedback from surrounding brothers and sisters in Christ. ADULT APPROACH TO EDUCATION (ANDRAGOGY)Considering that the adult believer possesses certain notions of truth, varied life experiences, beginnings of integration, and vocational objectives more or less defined; and Considering that God gives to his children diverse gifts and calls them to varied services; and Considering that students deserve an education that is as much as possible tailor-made, L'INSTITUT BIBLIQUE V.I.E. offers each student a formation built upon his/her previously acquired knowledge and experiences, his/her capacities, and his/her personal goals. FULLNESS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT Considering that the integration of truth and experience as well as the development of team spirit are particularly the domain of the Holy Spirit; and Considering that it is God's desire that each one of his servants know the fullness of the Holy Spirit, L'INSTITUT BIBLIQUE V.I.E., through its trainers, seeks to live out the fullness of the Holy Spirit and invites each and every servant-leader-in-training to experience this fullness. COHORT TRAINING Considering that the best environment to learn and grow includes elements of team work, accountability and pilgrimage; and Considering that a group context favours the development of the whole person; L'INSTITUT BIBLIQUE V.I.E. intentionally opts for cohort learning. LOCAL CHURCH PARTNERSHIPConsidering that the local Church is privileged by God as the place to grow in Christ in all things; and Considering that the best training occurs « in ministry » rather than « in view of ministry »; and Considering that Churches as well as IBVIE need to continually grow in their own ministry of leadership training; and Considering that IBVIE values improving its educational ministry by hearing from the local Churches it serves, L'INSTITUT BIBLIQUE V.I.E. establishes with local Churches a partnership for the training of their leaders and offers these Churches tools to assist them in their own training ministry. TEAM OF TRAINERS THAT LIVES OUT OUR VISIONConsidering that teachers and field supervisors are called to model the school's vision, L'INSTITUT BIBLIQUE V.I.E. chooses and trains the members of its team in such a way that they demonstrate and live out, before the students, the Institute's vision, in particular with respect to accountability and team spirit. SCRIPTURE AND CULTUREConsidering that the Scriptures, the Word of God, are not only bread for our souls but light for the paths that God calls us to walk in (Psalm 119.105); and Considering that the Gospel lives within real individuals, and that our students live first within Quebec and secondly within their Church family; and Considering that there is a continual need for Evangelicals to study Quebec society; L'INSTITUT BIBLIQUE V.I.E. trains students not only to examine Scripture but also to study (research) the social, cultural and Church context he / her lives. RIGOROUS AND INTENTIONAL SELF-EVALUATION Considering that this theological school is itself on a pilgrimage; and Considering that institutional coherence is the sign of the school's own integration of truth and experience; and Considering that the progress of an institution flows out of constant and systematic evaluation; and Considering that the faithfulness and success of an equipping ministry is seen only in the servant-leaders it trains, L'INSTITUT BIBLIQUE V.I.E. evaluates not only each one of its dimensions (trainers, personnel, programs, courses, administration, finances, etc.), but recognizes that in the final analysis, its success is measured only by the quality of its graduates.
